We are excited to build momentum as we kick off the new school year and are asking you to join us to discuss how to accomplish this at our upcoming PTA meeting on Thursday, August 22 during Curriculum Night. We look forward to hearing what you think has worked, what you wish you saw more of and any ideas on how to further support volunteerism as we head into a transitional year at our school. The Brooks Global community is incredible and we look forward to connecting to discuss ideas to make it even stronger this year! We Need You! We have identified several recurring volunteer opportunities and PTA committees that need your help. All volunteers must complete a GCS Volunteer Registration form (it takes two minutes!). Complete yours today so you are ready to volunteer when school starts! Volunteer Today! GCS Volunteer Form Important Dates August 2: 4:30-6pm Open House Last names A-L 4:30-5:15 Last names M-Z 5:15-6 August 6: First Day for Students! August 20: 7:30 - 8:15 am Coffee and Conversations with the Principal and PTA August 22: Curriculum Night: Come see what is happening in your child's classroom and join the first PTA meeting of the year! Session 1: 5:30-6 PTA Meeting: 6:05 - 6:20 Session 2: 6:25 - 6:55 August 29: Passport Passoff - NEED VOLUNTEERS August 25: 1:00 pm - Pandas at Grasshoppers Stadium August 30: Picture Day September 2: Labor Day Holiday - No School September 6: Panda Fun Run Fundraiser - NEED VOLUNTEERS September 12: GLOBAL DAY September 26: Passport Passoff - NEED VOLUNTEERS Add to Your Calendar! Save the Date for Pandas in the Outfield! Lets takeover the Greensboro Grasshoppers stadium on Sunday, August 25 at 1:00 pm! Participating Pandas can play catch on the field before the game starts and run bases after the game. Purchase your tickets today to join in on the fun! Purchase Tickets Here! Got An Hour? Volunteer Today: Lunch Duty: Lets cover lunch duty for our wonderful teachers. We are hoping to provide lunch coverage for all grade levels once a month Please consider signing up for a 45 minute slot (or all lunch sessions if your schedule allows)! Volunteer Passport Passoff: Help assess our students on their Passport Pass Off Map (cheat sheet provided)! Volunteers will meet in the cafeteria from 7:20 - 8:00 to ask our Second - Firth Graders to locate their assigned places. Volunteer Want To Help? Join a Committee! Hospitality Each month, a grade level will sponsor a teacher hospitality event. The PTA will also provide several meals throughout the year where we will need help with setup and staffing. Does this sound like something you'd be interested in helping with? Sign up and our hospitality chair will be in touch. Join F.B.I. (Fathers Being Involved) Example of F.B.I activities: F.B.I. Fridays once a month. Dress in suits, sunglasses and open doors (kids love this!!) and read in classrooms after final bell. Join Book Fair There will be a fall and spring book fair this year. We are looking for parents who are interested in partnering with our Media Specialist, Ms McEnally, to help plan, promote and staff the book fairs. Join Fundraising The PTA is assembling a committee to explore fundraising options as we better understand the needs of our new building.
